Family Promise
Family Promise is a non-profit organization which provides for the prevention of homelessness, short-term housing and support and stabilization to families in need. Aldersgate has donated funds and provided volunteers to Family Promise of Orange County, and to their two shelters: House of Ruth in Tustin and Trinity Christo Rey in Santa Ana. Both properties provide transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness.
Aldersgate is privileged to send a “dinner” team of volunteers on a rotational basis to Trinity Christo Rey shelter. Volunteers are always needed.
Tustin Community Foundation
Aldersgate partners in a variety of ways with the Tustin Community Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to work with donors and other partners to enhance the quality of life throughout greater Tustin. The Foundation strives to understand local needs and seek creative solutions to meet those needs by bringing people and organizations together to address local issues and opportunities.
Sabil
A non-profit community development organization, Sabil is aimed at providing services to refugees, the underprivileged, and homeless members of society. AUMC volunteers can help in the food pantry, office, thrift shop or with tutoring.
Aldersgate Abolitionists
Aldersgate Abolitionists provides awareness and education about Human Slavery and Trafficking and partners with local organizations who support survivors.
Rise Against Hunger
On September 7, 2025 AUMC joined over 200 volunteers from four other OC United Methodist Congregations to pack 40,000 meals. We wore hats and hairnets, we measured, weighed, sealed, labeled, and boxed meals that will go to schools in Southeast Asia or the Philippines to feed children facing poverty. The meals provide nutrition and incentive to send children to school. Each packet has rice, soy protein, freeze-dried vegetables, and vitamins.
Thank you to all those who worked and donated money to help our global neighbors. A bonus was meeting our fellow OC Methodist neighbors. Over 200 Methodists were in the room! Building relationships and community is what we do as United Methodists and followers of Jesus.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12: 30 – 31).
