Aldersgate United Methodist Church is pleased to announce our annual Vacation Bible School! Our one-week event is a highlight in our church year. Many families plan their vacation around the dates of this fantastic time during which their children learn about God, Jesus, the Bible, and how to relate to one another.

Music, recreation, snacks, and special Bible lessons all play a part in the week’s activities. Our outstanding team of teachers and helpers are ready to meet your child and ensure a great experience! We look forward to serving you and your children and welcoming you to our 2018 Vacation Bible School on June 25 through June 29. It is sure to be the spirit-filled time we have come to expect here at Aldersgate.

Special features: Each child attendee and each volunteer will receive a commemorative t-shirt and re-usable bag celebrating our 2018 VBS. In addition, each family may purchase a take-home CD with the wonderful new VBS songs.

CLASS STRUCTURE
Children 1st through 5th grade will be assigned to a multiage “family group.” Children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall will be in a group together. Each group will have an adult leader and older youth assistants. The groups will gather together in the sanctuary for opening music, and then move from various activity centers — crafts, snacks, etc. Your child will be with the same “family group” all week. Preschool children (3 years and up) will meet together in the sanctuary for opening music, then gather together in a separate pre-school program designed just for them. The pre-school program will be led by wonderful adult leaders and assistants. Please note that all participants must be potty trained.

MISSION OUTREACH
It is our custom to combine our VBS with a mission project. Last year we raised money for Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti. This year we are focusing on Family Promise of Orange County. They are a local organization helping families break the cycle of homelessness by partnering with local churches to provide places for families to stay, keeping them out of the shelter system. Aldersgate hosts families 4 times each year, providing meals, rooms and a safe space. Our VBS mission this year will be to support the efforts of Family Promise so they may continue in their amazing work. We will send home special collection envelopes with “tasks” for the children to do in order to help raise money for this outreach.

VISITATION
All are invited to join us each day in the Sanctuary for our Gathering Worship (9:00—9:15) and for our Closing Worship (11:45—12:00).

CRAFTS
Your child will be creating a wide variety of special crafts that will reflect the VBS theme. All crafts will be gathered together in a special bag to be taken home on Friday. If you are not able to attend on Friday, be sure to get your special bag on Thursday.

SNACKS
Your child will be provided with a snack during the morning. Snacks will also reflect the daily VBS theme. If your child has any food allergies of which we need to be aware, please indicate that information on your registration sheet.

VOLUNTEERS
We hope you will!! There is always a need for adult and youth help during this very busy week. Please contact Kim Wilmoth (families@aumctustin.org) to see how you can help. Youth helpers need to be entering 6th grade in the Fall. All volunteers must be able to attend a Volunteer Training & Orientation. Please see the Volunteer Form for dates and times.

SIGN-OUTS
To ensure the safety of your child, it is mandatory that children are signed in and out by an adult. No children will be released to minors. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

SUNDAY WORSHIP
Friday will not quite close our VBS experience. On Sunday, July 1st, all children are invited to join us in worship to view a video presentation of the week and sing a song (or two) for the congregation. We will sing at our one service at 9 AM. It is always a GREAT celebration.

WEDNESDAY LUNCH
We will be hosting a hot dog luncheon Wednesday at 12 pm after VBS. This special event is sponsored by our Connection Team. They will be providing a free lunch out on our “back 40”. We hope you will stay and join us. Everyone is invited to stay, but in order for children to attend, they must have an adult accompany them.
